NO NAME BAND (1969) in matching blue outfits (like The Monkees) Sandy Erickson (lead gtr) Bob Hoknes (rhythm gtr) Buddy Rogers (drums) Ken Stoltz (bass/vocals) Country / backed up professional singers from Vancouver at Joe's Cabaret in Kamloops BC in 1969?? Band together about 3 months. Hoknes hired because he could read charts and member of Saskatoon Musicians Union. Erickson played a Gretsch and a Fender amp, Hoknes had an awkward Yamaha amp, Stoltz played a Fender Bassman amp.
BOB HOKNES TRIO (1969) Bob Hoknes (vocal/guitar) Buddy Rogers (drums) and Benny Charboneau (bass) Backed strippers including lots of instrumentals. Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon BC for strippers and then Prince George, BC as a regular bar band. Together about 6 months. Hoknes fiance Bonney came to Kamloops and saw stripper Lottie the Body could life a chair as a grand finale with her teeth.
FULL HOUSE (1970) Vancouver BC. Hired Bob Hoknes from Saskatoon to join about April 1970. Gordie Lang (lead vocal,bass) Bob Hoknes (rhythm gtr,vocals) Norm Villeneuve (lead gtr) Diane Demers (vocals,tamb) Mike ? (drums) they lost their guitar player during Saskatoon gig so Hoknes hired to join on the spot touring band. Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon, Regina (might be where the Pump now is) Prince Charles Hotel in Lloydminster, Prince George for the entire 1970 winter as house band at the Hut cabaret, New Westminster BC at some dive club Stardust??, band had a station wagon, Hoknes and wife Bonney had to lay in the back of the wagon as not enough seats. Top 40 band A circuit. Popular songs included Aquarius, White Rabbit, Ballad of John & Yoko.
BOB HOKNES TRIO (1971-1972) Bob Hoknes (vocal,guitar) Kent Cadman (Scooter) (drums/vocals lead on Amos Moses) Larry Janzen (bass) Top 40. Benny Charboneau replaced Janzen on bass. Band had a lot of work we went through Music Unlimited Ltd from Regina. Chris Siller booking agent. BC to SK - Vancouver Island, Port Albernie, Grand Prairie, The Pas, Flin Flon, Saskatoon - Jacks. Was the firstband to play Jacks on opening week in 1971. Hoknes traveled with wife Bonney and baby son Terry to Vernon BC in summer 1971. DD Special was their favorite stripper cause she was nice older lady in mid 30's. Janzen was scared of the stripper and refused to play as long as she was on stage. Westward Motor Inn in Regina was their first gig. Photograph of the sign billed as Bob Hawkins Trio. Played Villa Motor Inn in Lloydminster a couple times - photo available also played Beaver Hotel in North Battleford for Ron Close (president of Hotel association of SK) Also played Melfort SK.
BLACKBIRD (1972) one weekend the Bob Hoknes Trio hired to back a local female vocalist in Port Alberni BC with Hoknes/Cadman/Charboneau. Gig ended that weekend and on the Sunday Hoknes had appendix removed in Port Alberni. The rest of the band had driven forward to the next gig. They played their regular sets of the Bob Hoknes Trio and inserted the few female songs. After 3 months off they went back to performing as the Bob Hoknes Trio for several more months.
DAVE AND THE DRASTIKS (1972-1974) Dave Beck (lead vocal,congas), Bob Hoknes (lead gtr,vocals), Ed Kucherhan (bass,vocals), Jim Boyko (drums,fiddle,vocals). Boyko sings and plays fiddle at the same time on recordings from 1972. Drummers consisted of: Jim Boyko, Rick Van Dusen, Howie McGregor (he is on the 1974 recordings), Billy Higby. Manager was Lorne Horning 813 Colony Street, Agent: Northwind Talent (Dave Beck who later sold it to Rob Hodge) Played Saskatoon and towns in SK. Lots of University gigs like Belles Of The Ball (Bessborough) possibly the highest profile Top 40 MOR band of the time. Hoknes in band possibly over a year left for sure by 1975. and then added Slind/Schneider later on.

Recordings of at least 2 full sets exist. Hoknes sang all but 2 songs in the
show. Guitar player from Regina band Mudd played at some point with
the band says Marty Salloum. May have performed at the "Ruby
Inn" as mentioned on a recording of You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.
SOCIETY OF FOUR (1975) Bob Hoknes joined for about 3 months (lead vocals,gtr) after John Cherneski retired. Bob Silversides (keyboards,vocals), Dave Tupper (drums) and Rick Stack (bass). Private dances at Sheraton Cavalier. Possibly 1 gig at Leisureland.
RAY HARRISON SHOW (1975) Formed/based out of Edmonton - Bob Hoknes (lead vocal,gtr) Band originally formed out of Hoknes moving to Edmonton to back Ray Harrison (Tom Jones/Engelbert Humperdinck impersonator) and brought Marty Salloum (drums) along from Saskatoon for 1 gig in Meadowlake. Regular drummer was Eddie Reukema? (drums). Jones singer played Meadowlake, Edmonton (Saxony - played numerous gigs there), At that time Hoknes and Salloum took over booking agency in Edmonton that went bankrupt called ?? and kept it alive for a few more months before Sasktel shut the phone lines off.
BACKFIRE (1975) Robert Hoknes (vocal/guitar) & Marty Salloum (drums) left Ray Harrison Show and started up Backfire with Ross Langbell (bass) Lodi Kieken (keyboards). 90% of gigs at Edmonton at Edmonton Inn??? played only in Edmonton also played a heavy metal rock bar cause they had so many fights they brought in a MOR band and not a single fight while they played at a hotel in Edmonton

Traveling band - played Edmonton, White Horse, Kelowna, back to White Horse (Inferno Lounge at Sandman Inn) and Edmonton. Light rock like The Guess Who etc. Hoknes also played sax in the band. Newspaper ad exists.
ONE NIGHT BAND (1976??) Bob Hoknes (gtr/vocals) Sherman Pearce (drums) and black bass player and his girlfriend whom they met for 1 weekend gig. He kicked her out of hotel room one night so she had nowhere to go and didnt play with the band the next night. 1 gig in Prince Albert. MOR like Neil Diamond. Sherman phoned Hoknes for gig - they had not met before and no rehearsal or maybe 1 hour. Sherman Pearce added: the bass player was terry Lewis from Antiqua and the horn players first name was Adam..we did a gig also at the bessbourgh lounge a few times.
DENIM (1977-1978?) Bob Hoknes moved back to Saskatoon from Edmonton after quitting road touring and helped form his longest term band. Bob Hoknes (lead vocal/gtr) Bill Hodge (keyboards,vocals) Brent Burlingham (drums) Tom Chunick (joined on gtr replacing Hoknes (who sang lead no guitar) for the last couple gigs in 1983). Hugh Mitchell (bass) Casbah at the last gig - band was offered a gig for a year but the band quit instead to form Whisper (Hoknes says "great band"). MOR band. Played: King George Hotel, Casbah (Egadz now), Jacks, Yips, Embers, Foxies, Fast Freddies. More older top 40 than current. Foreigner, etc.
FRANK BALL & THE COUNTY SQUIRES (1980-1983??) Bob Hoknes joined band for 3.5 years playing guitar. Frank Ball (accordion), Eileen Ball (sax,lead vocal) ?? (moved to Orangeville Ont) (bass) Mark Ball (Frank's nephew) (drums). Performed through SK playing old time music, some 50's rock (elvis), weddings, 49 weekends in a row for the singles dances in Saskatoon. Don Sawchuk played bass as well in the band during part of this time as well as another guitar player
THE NEW PIPPINS (1983?) Bob Hoknes joined them for 1 year (gtr,vocals) Barry Pippin (rhythm,vocals) Monty Sawyer (drums) Don Sawchuk (bass) Sometimes Barry's daughter sang in band. MOR country and light rock - played dances throughout SK based out of Saskatoon. Sharon Pippin did the bookings (her and Sam Hergott)?? Curtis Pippin added: my Uncle Barry and his now ex wife Sharon.......small world! One of my earliest memories is singing Mama Don't Let Your BAbies (grow up to be Cowboys) on stage with them at a dance when I was probably three or four......their daughter Salem Jones is definitely on facebook and may have more information and possibly photos. My uncle Barry is down south in Arizona for the winter so I likely won't be seeing him until the spring.
BORDERLINE (1984-1987) Bob Hoknes (gtr/vocals) and Monty Sawyer (drums) left The New Pippins and started new group with a bass player John Chobotar and Don Sawchuk (guitar,bass). Played Sunday in the park.
Meewasin Valley Song (1987?) Bob Hoknes recorded vocals for this song and also commercials for Claypools (Claypool Country).
BILLY BOB (1987-1993) Bill Hodge (keyboards,vocals) asked Bob Hoknes (gtr,vocals) to start a duo - performed through SK (Ontario for 1 night), dances, bars, parties. Released a 45 rpm and a full lengh album in 1989 and made Cityworks 89 and 90 CD's. Best known for party atmosphere - traveled with a huge PA system, carried their own stage and huge 56 can lightshow. Pyro ! Played lots in Melfort at Heritage Inn, Martensville at Adobe Inn constantly, Travelodge, Rascals, Longbranch, Texas T once, country bar at 310 22nd St W (now Great Buffet of China)
PARAGON (1994)
Had been together quite a while and Bob Hoknes (gtr,vocals) joined for 1 year.
Modern country. Ed Peters (lead voc,bass), Vic Hamm (voc,guitar), Ed Peter's son
(gtr,vocal), ? (drums). 5 days at Craven, Martensville - Adobe (many times),
Nipawin King Fisher Inn, dances, bars throughout Saskatoon area (didnt travel
too far). They recorded a full CD at Audio Art before Hoknes joined.
OUTBACK JACK (1994-95) Bob Hoknes (gtr,vocals,sequencer), Doug Bodie (gtr,banjo,vocals) Mostly country and some rock. Play through the province - small town bars like Leroy. Hiedelberg Inn. Both did bookings. Hoknes bought the Korg X3 keyboard with built in sequencer.
THE PARDY HARDY BOYS (1996) Bob Hoknes (gtr,voc) and son Terry Hoknes (acoustic,voc) and using Korg O1WFD keyboard/sequencer. Played 2 gigs - Guernsey, Elbow SK. Demo audio recordings of 4 songs.
KENNY ROGERS TRIBUTE (2002-present) Bob Hoknes (gtr,vocals) has performed one man show, duo, trio and with Ovide Pilon's band Ovide Pilon (gtr,vocal), Ken Rinehart (keyboards,vocal), Brad McIntosh (drums) Terry Hoknes (keyboards,bass,vocals)
LADYHAWKE (2000-present) Bob Hoknes (gtr,vocals,sequences) and wife Tracy Heaton Hoknes (vocals,tambourine) perform primarily in Saskatoon but has performed many small towns and one nighters from Alberta to Manitoba.
