PAUL McCARTNEY - YOUNG BOY (1997)

Album:  Flaming Pie (1997)

I bought this brand new CD in July 1997 at age 26 while on the road with Marilyn now for 4 years.

September 17th 1997 - my #3 favorite daily song for 146 days at age 26.

Young Boy" is a song by Paul McCartney and is the fifth track on his 1997 album Flaming Pie. In April 1997, the song was released as the first single from that album, peaking at #19 in the UK Singles Chart

Flaming Pie is the tenth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, first released in 1997. His first studio album in over four years, it was mostly recorded following McCartney's involvement in the highly successful The Beatles Anthology project. In Flaming Pie's liner notes McCartney said: "(Anthology) reminded me of The Beatles' standards and the standards that we reached with the songs. So in a way it was a refresher course that set the framework for this album."

Upon its May 1997 release, the critical reaction to Flaming Pie was very strong, with McCartney achieving his best reviews since 1982's Tug of War. The commercial reaction was everything McCartney could have hoped for. With fresh credibility even with young fans who had been introduced to him through the Anthology project, and anticipation raised with the excellent reviews, Flaming Pie debuted at #2 in the UK in May, giving McCartney his best new entry since Flowers in the Dirt eight years before. It was knocked-off the top spot there by the Spice Girls' album Spice.  In the US, reaction was also very positive. The album debuted at #2 (the best chart peak for a McCartney album there since Tug of War) with 121,000 copies sold in its first week, also behind the Spice album that sold only 16,500 more copies that week

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR original cast - GETHSEMANE (1970)

Album: Jesus Christ Superstar (1970)

I bought this album used in 1985 at age 14 in Grade 9 at Nudon Book Store on Louise/8th Street.  I also got the movie version of the musical on Beta tape official release that year.   I bought the CD on the road with Marilyn while I was in Yellowknife playing at the Golden Range and the record shop was in the mall across the street in November 1993 at age 22.  I barely saw any sunlight the 3 weeks we were there as I woke up in the afternoons when the sun was already going down.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The album musical is a musical dramatisation of the last week of the life of Jesus Christ, beginning with his entry into Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. It was originally banned by the BBC on grounds of being "sacrilegious."

The album's story is based in large part on the Synoptic Gospels and Fulton J. Sheen's Life of Christ, which compares and calibrates all four Gospels. However, greater emphasis is placed on the interpersonal relationships of the major characters, in particular, Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdalene, relationships that are not described in depth in the Gospels.

The album reached #1 on the Billboard chart in 1971 and served as a launching pad for numerous stage productions on Broadway and in the West End. The original 1970 boxed-set issue of this 2-record set was packaged in the U.S. with a special thin brown cardboard outer box which contained the 2 vinyl records and a 28-page libretto. It is also the sixth most successful album of all time in Norway, peaking at #3 and staying on the charts for 87 weeks.

    HARRY CHAPIN - TAXI (1972)
Taxi" is a song written and performed by Harry Chapin from his 1972 album Heads and Tales. Chapin debuted the song on NBC's The Tonight Show in 1972 which was followed by many calls and telegrams sent from viewers to NBC demanding that Chapin return to the show. It was the first time in the show's history that host Johnny Carson brought a performer back the very next night for an encore performance. Taxi thus front-lined his defining work. The single helped establish Chapin's musical style and fame, and as a result many Chapin items feature taxi-related imagery. Legendary WMEX-Boston Radio Personality Jim Connors is credited with a Gold record for discovering Chapin and pushing his single "Taxi" to #24 on the Billboard charts, where it would last 16 weeks on the Hot 100, in the United States.

The song tells the story of Harry, a cab driver, on a rainy night in San Francisco. He picks up a woman, his last fare for the night, and she asks to be taken to her home at 16 Parkside Lane. Harry finds the woman familiar at first, but she doesn't seem to recognize him until after she looks at him in the rear-view mirror and at his license. It is then revealed that she is Sue, Harry's old lover.

In flashback, Harry remembers how he "used to take her home in [his] car" and also how they "learned about love in the back of a Dodge". Sue had wanted to be an actress, while Harry was going to learn to fly (hinting at Chapin's earlier real-life experience at the United States Air Force Academy). Their relationship ended when Sue "took off to find the footlights" and Harry "took off to find the sky".

EVELYN "CHAMPAGNE" KING - I DONT KNOW IF ITS RIGHT (1979) hit #23

August 2nd 1990 - my #1 favorite daily song for 8 days at age 19 a month before 2nd year University.

"I Don't Know If It's Right" was a hit single by Evelyn King, her follow-up to the top-ten single "Shame". It is featured on her album Smooth Talk. It reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA

Evelyn "Champagne" King (born July 1, 1960) is an American R&B, disco and post-disco singer. Some of her best-known songs are "Shame", "Love Come Down," and "I'm in Love."

Evelyn King was born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her uncle Avon Long had played the part of Sportin' Life in Porgy and Bess and worked with Lena Horne at the Cotton Club. Her father sang back-up for groups at Harlem's Apollo Theater.

She was discovered as a young woman while working with her mother at Philadelphia International Records as an office cleaner. Producer Theodore T. Life overheard her singing in a washroom and began coaching her. She was eventually signed to a production deal with Life's Galaxy Productions and a recording contract with RCA Records.

King released her debut album, Smooth Talk, in 1977. The album included the song "Shame", which is her only top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #9. The song also reached #7 R&B and #8 on the dance chart. The record was eventually certified gold. Another single from that album, "I Don't Know If It's Right", peaked at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #7 R&B. This would become her second certified gold single. In 1981, the single "I'm in Love" was released from the same-titled album. It reached #1 on the R&B singles chart and dance chart in August of that year. It also peaked at #40 on the pop charts.

THE MOVE - FEEL TOO GOOD (1970)

Album:  Looking On (1970)

The Move became one of my all time favorite bands after I became a fan of Roy Wood first.   I bought most of their albums in 1985 but I never got Shazam until the 1990's.  This band features the earliest songs and singing of Roy Wood as he became a huge star in England but no success at all in North America.  Unfortunately I had no song charts yet in 1985 when I learned the majority of their songs.

Taken from the 1970 LP Looking On and released as a single on the Fly label, "Alice" failed to chart, largely due to lack of airplay by BBC radio stations. The song allegedly made mild references to cannabis - "Alice", "time for tearing out the weeds" and the last line "don't get around much anymore", which is a description of the singer's condition rather than a reference to the Duke Ellington song.
Looking On is the third album by The Move, released in the UK in December 1970. The LP is their first to feature Jeff Lynne, their first containing entirely original compositions, and the first on the Fly label, its catalogue number being FLY 1. It includes both their 1970 singles, the Top 10 hit "Brontosaurus," released on Regal Zonophone in March, and the less successful "When Alice Comes Back To The Farm," released on Fly in October.

Looking On is generally regarded as the hardest rocking, least popular and most eclectic album in the Move's catalogue, as it presents the band dabbling in heavy metal ("Brontosaurus,") blues, ("When Alice Comes Back to the Farm"), ("Turkish Tram Conductor Blues"), prog-style epics ("Open Up Said the World at the Door"), soul ("Feel Too Good"), or, in the case of the title track, all four styles mashed together.

It's also the first LP to feature both Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne as a tandem, with Wood’s use of cello and woodwinds and Lynne's piano and vocals anticipating the work they would later pursue in the Electric Light Orchestra, whose debut album they were starting to record at around the same time. The jazzy fills on the title track also serve as a signpost of the style that Wood would later develop in Wizzard and the Wizzo Band.

TERRY HOKNES - BLANK PAGES (1993) Opus #860 lyrics by Brent Pomeroy

In 1992 age 21 I went and packaged up very first official release album on cassette called COOL ALL OVER.  It featured all my original songs and a weird bunch of genres.  It was reviewed in an issue of the SOMA newspaper in 1992 by Brent Pomeroy.  He liked the musicianship but thought the vocals need work.  The album was recorded primitively on a new 4 track cassette tape recorder I had bought and recorded this album while renting at 314 Cumberland Ave

I wrote my first song in 1982 at age 11 in Grade 6.     I would sporadically write 18 few songs over the next 4 years.  Starting with my 19th song (Opus #19) I began writing on a very regular basis starting in December 1986 in Grade 11 at Aden Bowman.  This included writing over 58 songs with my best friend Nels Krauss over the period of 1986-1992.  I wrote 97 songs in 1987 and then 215 songs in 1988.   By the time I graduated high school at age 17 I was up to Opus #268.   I wrote another 178 songs in 1989.   By the time I celebrated my 19th birthday I was up to Opus #524.   At that time I was in first year University living in Muenster, SK in residence at St Peters College at the monastery.  I met a poet from New York named Philip Murray who I collaborated with writing music to his words 91 songs in total.  I wrote my 1000th song the week I turned 25 in January 1996.

    BOSTON - AMANDA (1986) hit #1
Amanda" is a song by American rock band Boston written by Tom Scholz. The album was released as the first single from the band's third album, Third Stage, in 1986, after a 6-year-delay it was recorded. It was the band's first officially released single since 1978 and their first released by MCA Records. The 12-string guitar parts are played by Scholz.

"Amanda" became the band's highest charting single in the United States and Canada. In the former country, the single topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the Mainstream Rock charts, while in the latter the single topped RPM magazine's Top Singles and Adult Contemporary charts.

"Amanda" is a relatively rare example of a song that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in or after the 1980s without having a performance music video made for it. An interview for British television, made while the band was promoting the Third Stage album, does show a couple of minutes of a music video near the end. The band does not appear in that video, which intersperses shots of a model smiling for the camera with special effects footage of the band's spaceship logo flying over the Boston skyline. One shot shows the animated spaceship almost colliding with the John Hancock Tower.

The song was eventually certified gold by the Canadian Recording Industry Association with sales of over 5,000 units.

RINGO STARR - SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY (1970)

Album:  Sentimental Journey (1970)

My friend Terry Butler had this album and I think I traded him the new Journey album for it thinking he was getting the better part of the deal but I was very happy to acquire another Beatles related album on my quest to owning them at age 11 in 1982.

Sentimental Journey is the debut solo album by former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, released in 1970, as the band was splintering apart. Although Starr was the third member of the group to issue solo work (after George Harrison and John Lennon), Sentimental Journey is notable for being the first non-avant-garde studio album by a member of the band, in light of the experimental, soundtrack or live releases his aforementioned bandmates had already released. Paul McCartney's debut, McCartney, would follow three weeks after Sentimental Journey's release.

Sentimental Journey received fair reviews upon its release, although many critics found the idea of Starr covering standards a bit odd considering his musical background. His fame in the Beatles was all that was required, however, to get it all the way to #7 in the UK - with no single release to promote it - and #22 in the US. Although the style of the album took many by surprise, Starr's swift follow-up, Beaucoups of Blues, would be just as radical a stylistic shift.

The pub on the cover of the album is The Empress in Dingle, Liverpool, which is one of the nearest pubs to Ringo's place of birth. The superimposed figures in the windows of the pub are Ringo's relatives.

KIM LUKAS - ALL I REALLY WANT (1999)

March 24th 2000 - my #1 favorite daily song for 5 days at age 29 while traveling on the road with Marilyn now for about 6.5 years.  This is the only song to be my #1 favorite for less than 10 days in the past 20 years.

Kim Joanne Woodcock Lukas, better known by her stage name Kim Lukas is an English pop singer and a dancer based in Italy. She graduated at Academy of Live and Recorded Arts of London and is known for the song "All I Really Want" charting in several European countries   All I Really Want" is the title of a song recorded by English singer Kim Lukas. It was released in September 1999 as the lead single from the album, With a K. The song reached the top 10 in Austria, Canada, Denmark, and Italy

PAUL McCARTNEY - DRIVING RAIN (2001)

Album:  Driving Rain (2001)

I bought this as a new release in December 2001 at age 30 living in Dalmeny, SK now selling on ebay for 3.5 years

Driving Rain is the twelfth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, recorded and released in 2001. It was his first studio album since publicly announcing his relationship with former model and anti-land mines activist Heather Mills, whom he married in 2002. The cover of the album was taken with a wristwatch that had a built-in camera.

Driving Rain features many songs inspired by and written for Heather. Clearly determined to follow the example of Run Devil Run's brisk making, Driving Rain—except for two songs—was cut with David Kahne co-producing in two weeks, starting in February 2001 and with a set of new musicians whom McCartney intended on backing him on tour.   In November 2001, Driving Rain was released to generally strong reviews but stunned many with its very low sales, especially considering that McCartney's previous studio album of original material, Flaming Pie, was a Top 2 hit in both the US and the UK. Maybe due to the lack of a hit single to support it, Driving Rain peaked at #46 in the UK and became McCartney's lowest selling album in his homeland. The US reaction was a little stronger, though still underwhelming, with the album making #26 and going gold. Once again, there were no major US singles for McCartney and his new album.  Beginning in April 2002, the "Driving USA" tour—a massive success which would lead to worldwide tour extensions—was launched. After a nearly ten-year break and a difficult period in between after losing Linda, McCartney was back on the road and enjoying himself again

RONAN KEATING - LOVIN EACH DAY (2001)

January 19th 2002 - my #5 favorite daily song for 32 days at age 31 while living in Dalmeny, SK while Marilyn went on her first trip to Nashville and met Michael.

Lovin' Each Day" is the fourth and final single released from Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating's debut solo album, Ronan. The song was written by Gregg Alexander and Rick Nowels. The song was only included on the re-release of the album, before appearing on Keating's second album, Destination. The single was released on April 16, 2001, peaking at #2 on the UK Singles Chart. Sales of the song increased when it was used as the theme for Sky Sports' Ford Super Sunday coverage in 2001. In 2002, the song was used in a Busch Entertainment advertising campaign for the chain's two Busch Gardens parks.

Ronan Patrick John Keating (born 3 March 1977) is an Irish recording artist, singer-songwriter, musician, and philanthropist. Keating debuted on the professional music scene alongside Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and Stephen Gately, in 1994 as the lead singer of Boyzone. His solo career started in 1999, and resulted in 9 albums. Keating gained worldwide attention when his single "When You Say Nothing at All" was featured in the film Notting Hill and peaked at number one in several countries. As a solo artist, Keating has sold over 25 million records worldwide, and in Australia he is best known as a judge on The X Factor

    JANET JACKSON - ALRIGHT (1990) hit #4
Alright" is the fourth single from American R&B and pop singer Janet Jackson's fourth studio album, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989).

"Alright" samples Lyn Collins' 1972 song "Think (About It)". The song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and number one on the Hot Dance Club Play. While it was to become the only single of the seven released off the Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 album to not hit the top two on the Billboard Hot 100, it became the fourth consecutive single from the album to reach number one on the dance chart, helping Jackson break a record set by Madonna. (Madonna has since broke the record again with a string of eighteen consecutive number-one dance hits from 1999–2008.) "Alright" earned Jackson a 1991 Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female. The UK 7" single contains the Spanish version of "Come Back to Me", entitled "Vuelve a Mi", in various versions. The song was recorded again in January 1990 with Heavy D for the music video.

Jackson has performed the song on all of her tours. In the Rhythm Nation 1814 Tour, janet. Tour, The Velvet Rope Tour and All for You Tour, Jackson performs the song wearing a Zoot suit. On the Rock Witchu Tour, she wears a sailor suit. On The tour, Number Ones: Up Close and Personal, she wears a black catsuit.

BLACK BOX - I DONT KNOW ANYBODY ELSE (1991)
I Don't Know Anybody Else" is a 1989 song recorded by the Italo-house music band Black Box. It was the second single from their debut album Dreamland and was released in the first months of 1990 in most of countries worldwide.

The song had a great success on many charts, including the Irish, Swiss, Norwegian and UK Charts where it reached the top 5. In other countries, the single peaked between #5 and #10. It was the second Black Box's best-selling single, behind "Ride on Time". The song entered the UK Charts on 17 February 1990 and remained for 8 weeks.

The song features an un-credited Martha Wash on lead vocals. Wash later sued the record label for royalties and directly contributed to legislation ensuring proper credit for vocalists on both songs and music videos

In America, they are best remembered for their early '90s singles "Everybody Everybody", "I Don't Know Anybody Else", and "Strike It Up", their biggest hit in the United States, where all three of their hits are still heard on rhythmic radio and in clubs on a fairly regular basis to this day.

Black Box remain one of the few piano-house groups to achieve mainstream success in the USA. Dreamland earned a gold disc in both the UK and the US and achieved double-platinum status in Australia, where it spent eight weeks at #1 during early 1991. Along the way, it also spawned six massive hit singles, both on the mainstream charts and in the clubs.

FRANKIE AVALON - BEACH PARTY (1963)

February 5th 1989 - my #1 favorite daily song for 5 days at age 18 after graduating high school.

Frankie Avalon (born September 18, 1939) is an American actor, singer, playwright, and former teen idol.

Avalon was born Francis Thomas Avallone in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Mary Loretta and Nicholas J. Avallone. By the time he was 12, Avalon was on U.S. television playing his trumpet. As a teenager he played with Bobby Rydell in Rocco and the Saints. In 1959, "Venus" (5 weeks #1) and "Why" went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Why" was the last #1 of the 1950s. Avalon had 31 charted U.S. Billboard singles from 1958 to late 1962, including "Just Ask Your Heart" (U.S. #7), "I'll Wait For You" (U.S. #15), "Bobby Sox to Stockings" (U.S. #8), and "A Boy Without a Girl" (U.S. #10). Most of his hits were written and/or produced by Bob Marcucci, head of Chancellor Records.

Teamed frequently with Annette Funicello, Avalon starred in a number of popular "beach party" comedy films during the mid-1960s. The wholesome and romantic coupling of "Frankie and Annette" in summer movies such as Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo became iconic figures in American films during that era.

GEORGE HARRISON - THIS IS LOVE (1987)

Album: Cloud Nine (1987)

George's first new album in 5 years came out in November 1987 and I rushed out and bought a vinyl copy in tribute to owning all his material on record.  This is possibly the last new release I bought in the vinyl format.  I would soon later get the cassette and then the CD version owning all 3.   I taped George off the radio as he was interviewed on Rock Line radio show that winter when I was 16 and in Grade 12.  I remember playing Got My Mind Set On You over and over and over again but ignoring the rest of the album which I didnt really get seriously into until 1993.

March 12th 1993 - my #2 favorite daily song for 21 days in celebration of George's 50th birthday when I was 22.

This Is Love" is a song by George Harrison and is the fifth track on his 1987 studio album Cloud Nine. In June 1988, the song was also released as the third single from that album, peaking at #55 in the UK Singles Chart   The original B-side for this single was going to be "Handle with Care," a collaboration between Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty at Bob Dylan's studio in Santa Monica, California. When executives at Harrison's distributor Warner Bros. Records heard the track, they decided it was too good to be released as single "filler," a decision that resulted in the formation of the Traveling Wilburys and the album Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 with "Handle with Care" as the lead track and single.
KEN THORNE and GEORGE MARTIN ORCHESTRA - IN THE TYROL (1965)

Album: Help soundtrack by The Beatles (1965 USA release only included the instrumentals)

The North American version, the Beatles eighth Capitol Records album and tenth overall, includes the songs in the film plus selections from the orchestral score composed by Ken Thorne and performed by the George Martin Orchestra, which contains one of the first uses of the Indian sitar on a pop album. "Ticket to Ride" is the only song on the American release in duophonic stereo (also known as "fake stereo") reprocessed from the mono mix. This album is available on CD as part of The Capitol Albums, Volume 2 box set. This set also includes the mono version of the American release, which is purely a stereo-to-mono fold-down mix, including the "fake stereo" duophonic "Ticket To Ride" folded down to mono, despite Capitol already having the mono mixes for the single releases of both that song and "Help!".

The American version of "Help!" reached the number one spot on the Billboard album charts for nine weeks starting on 11 September 1965.

THE BEATLES - SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (1967)

Album:  Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is a song written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney), and first recorded and released in 1967, on the The Beatles' album of the same name. The song appears twice on the album: as the opening track (segueing into "With a Little Help from My Friends"), and as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)", the penultimate track (segueing into "A Day in the Life"). As the title track, the lyrics introduce the fictional band that performs in the album.

Since its original album release, the song has also been released on singles, on compilation albums, and has been performed by several other artists including Jimi Hendrix, U2, and a comic interpretation by Bill Cosby, using the opening to John Phillip Sousa's Washington Post March as the instrumental bridge.

In November 1966, on the flight back to England after a holiday, McCartney conceived an idea in which an entire album would be role-played, with each of The Beatles assuming an alter-ego in the "Lonely Hearts Club Band", which would then perform a concert in front of an audience. The inspiration is said to have come when roadie Mal Evans innocently asked McCartney what the letters “S” and “P” stood for on the pots on their in-flight meal trays, and McCartney explained it was for salt and pepper. This then led to the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band concept, as well as the song

PATRICIA CONROY - KEEP ME ROCKIN' (1995)
Patricia Conroy is a Canadian country music singer. In her career, she has released five studio albums and a one compilation album. Several of her singles have charted on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart, most notably her number one hits "Somebody's Leavin'" and "What Else Can I Do" from 1994 and 1995.

Patricia Conroy was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Conroy was born to musical family which was influenced by her mother's Maritime country background and her father's Irish roots. As a young girl her musical interests led to piano and vocal lessons and performances in a local church and with her family band, the Shamrock Ceili Band. In the late 1980s, Conroy hooked up with local musicians in Vancouver, British Columbia and eventually entered a Battle of the Bands contest. Conroy ultimately won and received $10,000, which gave her the opportunity to record demos of some of her original material. By 1990, Conroy was approached by executives at Warner Music Canada, who signed her a record contract.

Her first album for the label, Blue Angel, was released later the same year. Two singles from the album, "This Time" and "Take Me With You", both reached the top 10 in Canada.

Patricia's second album, Bad Day for Trains, was released in 1992. It contained four top 10s, including "Bad Day for Trains", "What You You Care", "Blank Pages" and "My Baby Loves Me (Just the Way That I Am)", later recorded by Martina McBride.

Her most successful album to date, You Can't Resist, was released in 1994. The first two songs released from the album, "Somebody's Leavin'" and "What Else Can I Do", both reached No. 1. Follow-up singles "You Can't Resist It", "I Don't Wanna Be the One" and "Keep Me Rockin'" all reached the top 10.

    ABBA - BANG A BOOMERANG (1975)

Album:  Abba (1975)

ABBA is the eponymously-titled third studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was originally released on 21 April 1975 through Polar Music.

Following the Eurovision success of "Waterloo", ABBA saw the band gaining worldwide recognition. "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" topped the charts in Australia, as did "Mamma Mia" shortly after. "SOS" and "Mamma Mia" became hits in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and two of its most famous songs. The album saw ABBA dabble into reggae with "Tropical Loveland" and includes a grand pseudo-classical keyboard instrumental in the traditions of Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman with "Intermezzo No. 1" (originally entitled "Mama").

ABBA was a Swedish pop/rock/disco group formed in Stockholm in 1972, comprising Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. ABBA is an acronym of the first letters of the band members' first names and is sometimes stylized as the registered trademark ᗅᗺᗷᗅ. They became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of pop music, topping the charts worldwide from 1972 to 1982. They are also known for winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, giving Sweden its first victory in the history of the contest and being the most successful group ever to take part in the contest

    THE BEATLES - IF I FELL (1964)

Album:  A Hard Days Night (1964)

If I Fell" is a song by The Beatles which first appeared in 1964 on the album A Hard Day's Night in the United Kingdom and on the North American album Something New. It was written by John Lennon, but credited to Lennon–McCartney.

The song is notable for its unusual structure, which includes an unrepeated introductory section sung by Lennon, followed by sequential verse sections, each having a slightly expanded form, but with no obvious chorus or bridge section. The demo version (just John on acoustic guitar) from early 1964, does include the introduction, as well as an alternate ending. The remainder of the song features a two-part harmony, sung by Lennon and McCartney together into a single microphone at their suggestion, with Lennon singing the lower harmony while McCartney sings the higher one. It also features intricate chord changes. The key changes from D flat major to D major between the introduction (a series of descending barre chords) and the main song, which uses mainly open chords, including an unusual D ninth.

On the stereo mix of the song, McCartney's voice strains and cracks on the second instance of the word "vain". On the mono mix, McCartney's voice does not crack. Also, Lennon's opening vocal is single-tracked in mono but double-tracked in the stereo mix.

Lennon and McCartney shared a single microphone for their Everly Brothers-like close harmonies
