| THE BEATLES - WAIT (1965) Album: Rubber Soul (1965)
Wait" is a song recorded by
The Beatles, from their 1965 album
Rubber Soul. The songwriting credit is
Lennon–McCartney, and the song is usually said to be a
joint effort between the two, although in the 1997 book,
Many Years from Now, McCartney recalls it as entirely
his.
The song was originally recorded for Help! in June 1965 but did not make the final pressing. When Rubber Soul fell one song short for a Christmas release, "Wait" was brought back. The Beatles added overdubs to the initial recording so it would blend in better with the other, more recent songs on Rubber Soul. The lyrics, describing the singer's anxieties about his relationship with his girlfriend while he is away, are thematically similar to several other Lennon–McCartney songs, such as "When I Get Home" and "Things We Said Today," written during the period of 1964 and 1965. The vocals on the verse are shared between Lennon and McCartney, and McCartney sings the two middle eight sections. Instrumentally, the most memorable feature of "Wait" is George Harrison's tone pedal guitar |
| BOY KRAZY - ON A WING AND A PRAYER (1993) Album: Boy Krazy (1993) September 6th 1993 - my #3 favorite daily song for 214 days at age 22 while going on tour for the first time with Marilyn Faye Parney performing country through western Canada. September 26th 2003 - my #7 favorite daily song for 14 days at age 32 the month I moved into my first home on my own at Eastview.
Boy Krazy is the self-titled debut of girl group
Boy Krazy. This was the only album the group ever made.
It was produced by
Mike Stock and
Pete Waterman, except "That's What Love Can Do" and
"Good Times With Bad Boys", which are a
Stock Aitken & Waterman production. Each member sings
the lead vocals in at least 2 songs on the album. The album
includes many tracks originally written for Kylie Minogue
had Minogue stayed
Stock Aitken & Waterman's PWL label.
The album includes their biggest hit "That's What Love Can Do", as well as the singles "All You Have to Do" and "Good Times With Bad Boys". A planned fourth single, "Love is a Freaky Thing", was never released as Johnna Cummings left the band in late 1993. The album was released in North America first, and then through Europe and Asia. The American releases feature a guitar-driven version of the album track "On a Wing and a Prayer", whereas the European and Asian releases feature a mix more similar to Stock, Aitken & Waterman's typical Europop. Two of the tracks on the album, "That Kinda Love" and "Love Is A Freaky Thing", had been previously recorded by R&B group The Cool Notes, who worked with Stock & Waterman in 1991, but their versions were never released at the time. The latter was released through itunes in 2009. |
| THE BEATLES - YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW (1967) Album: Magical Mystery Tour (1967) I first saw the movie for free on a Saturday afternoon showing at age 10 at Frances Morrison public library. I doubt I had heard the album yet but not positive - I probably did have the album by late 1981 or might have got it for Xmas 1981 as I have recordings of myself singing along with the album in summer 1982 at age 11 with my sister Leslie age 9 singing this song specifically.
Your Mother Should Know" is a song by
The Beatles from their 1967 record
Magical Mystery Tour, released in the U.S. as an LP
on 27 November 1967 and in the UK as a double-EP on 8
December 1967. It was written by
Paul McCartney (credited to
Lennon–McCartney).
McCartney said he wrote it as a production number for the movie Magical Mystery Tour, supporting an old-fashioned dance segment that starts with the Beatles coming down a grand staircase in white tuxedoes. After they descend, Boy Scouts, RAF cadets and other groups march through. John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are wearing red carnations, while McCartney's is black. The carnation difference contributed to the "Paul is dead" controversy. The song was recorded in three sessions on 22 August, 16 September, and 29 September 1967. The remake from 16 September was left unused, and overdubs layered on the best take from 22 August. Mixing did not go any more smoothly, with sessions on 29 September, 30 September and 7 November 1967 |
| MOUNTAIN - TRAVELING IN THE DARK (1971) Album: Nantucket Sleighride (1971) My mother bought their first album Mountain Climbing new in 1970 and I always had it growing up but had never listened to it until 1987 at age 16 in Grade 11. I think it was Mountain that made me appreciate hard rock for the first time. I picked up this CD sometime in the 90's. I wrote a song called The Toad Strikes Back which is a tribute to Mountain specifically and I recorded a demo of it in 1989. Mountain is an American rock band that formed in Long Island, New York in 1969. Originally comprising vocalist and guitarist Leslie West, bassist/vocalist Felix Pappalardi, keyboardist Steve Knight and drummer N. D. Smart, the band broke up in 1972 and has reunited frequently since 1973, remaining active today. Best known for the song "Mississippi Queen", Mountain is one of many bands to be commonly credited as having influenced the development of heavy metal music in the 1970s
Mountain was received enthusiastically by the festival
audience but the band did not appear in the
film of the event, nor was their performance included on
volume 1 of the festival's
live album. Their performances of "Blood of the Sun"
(from West's album) and "Theme for an Imaginary Western" (a
song they planned to record for Climbing and
co-written by former Cream bassist Jack Bruce) did appear on
the second volume of Woodstock performances. Soon after
Woodstock, Smart was replaced by Canadian
Laurence "Corky" Laing, who was the drummer on the
classic
Climbing!, which was released in March 1970. It led
off with what became the band's signature song, "Mississippi
Queen", which reached #21 in the
Billboard Hot 100, and was featured in the 1971 cult
film Vanishing Point, while the album reached #17 in the
Billboard Top 200. Mountain began a hectic touring
schedule in the middle of which they recorded a followup
album,
Nantucket Sleighride, released in January 1971. This
album reached #16 but failed to yield a hit single. The
title track was used in the
UK as the theme to
ITV's
Sunday political program
Weekend World. After these early releases the band
continued to receive a certain measure of critical acclaim
but never again achieved great commercial success.

| SNOW - BAB'S SONG (1968) Album: Snow (1968) September 19th 1988 - my #1 favorite daily song for 3 days at age 17 the fall after graduating high school on my marathon of playing all 1968 music for its 20th anniversary. November 24th 2009 - my #9 favorite daily song for 27 days at age 38 living at Ave M South with Valerie now married 2 years and Nicholas is now 3.5 years old. Released on the Epic imprint in 1968 (BN26435), the sole, eponymous release by the Cleveland, Ohio outfit Snow, although being very much a record redolent of the period, is also an album of two halves. On the original record, side 1 kicks off with the band's attempt to infiltrate the singles chart with 'Where Has My Old Friend Billy Jones Gone', a folk-psych effort featuring a female vocalist brought in for the occasion, and who's influences clearly included Grace Slick amongst others. The side builds momentum, with its melodic harmonies and short, incisive guitar solos setting the scene for the brilliant Englebert and the clever tempo changes of 'You Let Me Know'. Side 2 is even better, starting with piercing guitar on 'Song Of The Sirens' and culminating with the outstanding 'Caterpillar' which, in the space of three minutes, escorts the listener through a plethora of sound effects, key changes and bold experimentation which still sounds as 'cutting edge' as anything comparable from the period. |
| JO JO GUNNE - RUN RUN RUN (1972) hit #27
Jo Jo Gunne is a
rock band, formed in
Los Angeles,
California, in 1971 by
Jay Ferguson (keyboards,
vocals and
guitar) and
Mark Andes (bass
guitar and vocals) after they had left
Spirit. The group's name is derived from a song by
Chuck Berry, Joe Joe Gun, a single that peaked at #83 in
November 1958.
With the addition of Andes' brother, Matt Andes (born c. 1950, California) (guitar, vocals) and William "Curly" Smith (born 31 January 1952, Wolf Point, Montana) (drums, vocals and harp), they were signed to Asylum Records. Jo Jo Gunne had a Top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart with the song, "Run Run Run", taken from their first album, Jo Jo Gunne (1972), which peaked at 27 in U.S. charts, and received airplay on U.S. album-oriented rock FM radio stations. Following the first album, Mark Andes left the band and was replaced by Jimmie Randall. Randall introduced a brighter bass sound and helped increase the band's overall volume. Matt Andes left after Jumpin' the Gunne, and he was briefly replaced by Star Donaldson. A more permanent replacement was found in John Staehely (born 25 January 1952, Austin, Texas), who had played on Feedback, the Spirit album that followed Ferguson and Ande's departure. Staehely's overdriven guitar was a complete change from Matt Andes's Ry Cooder style slide guitar. After the band broke up, Ferguson recorded several solo albums, including the hit singles "Thunder Island" and "Shakedown Cruise", and scored TV shows and mostly non-notable films. Andes joined Firefall and, later, Heart. Smith went on to have a successful career as a session drummer, and also played with Spirit in the 1980s and Boston from 1994 to 2000. The original line-up reformed in 2005, and began recording again. |
| WHITNEY HOUSTON - LOVE WILL SAVE THE DAY (1988) hit #9
Love Will Save the Day" was the fifth single by
American singer-songwriter
Whitney Houston from her second multi-platinum studio
album
Whitney. The single was released in July 1988 by
Arista Records.
"Love Will Save the Day" is the fastest-tempoed song on the album Whitney. Produced by John "Jellybean" Benitez and featuring Roy Ayers, the song is one of the uptempo numbers on the album that also includes "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and "So Emotional". At this time, Whitney Houston had achieved a record-breaking string of seven number-one hits, with four of those #1's from her current album "Whitney". "Love Will Save the Day" did not become Houston's eighth consecutive number one, but continued her trend of hit singles by peaking in the US Top 10. The #9 peak on the Hot 100 was Houston's lowest solo peak up to this time. The song also made the Top 10 without an accompanying music video. Houston had stronger performances on the charts prior to this song but it did remain in the top 40 for 11 weeks, and reached #5 on the R&B Chart, and #1 on the Hot Club/Dance Play Tracks. Internationally, the song mostly saw less success except in the United Kingdom, where it went Top 10 and Switzerland, where it went Top 20. It was a moderate hit in Germany, making 37; and was a minor hit in Australia, peaking at 77. After her sudden death, Entertainment Weekly would rank the song #20 on its list Whitney Houston: Her 25 Best Songs and stated: "Though the single broke her streak of consecutive No. 1's, the Miami bass and spicy horns on this high-BPM dance-pop workout pointed to Houston's willingness to experiment and evolve."

| HANNAH MONTANA - NOBODY'S PERFECT (2007) Album: Hannah Montana 2 (2007) July 20th 2007 - my #1 favorite daily song for 26 days. September 30th 2007 - my #1 favorite daily song for 15 days. This is the only time ever that my favorite song would be back just a month later and be #1 again. While on my Hannah Montana faze I asked Valerie to only give me this CD as a wedding present to her groom which she did making it the cheesiest wedding gift ever. My son Nicholas was 15 months old. But the song is still super catchy power/pop. Nobody's Perfect" is the first single released from the second season of the hit Disney Channel Original Series Hannah Montana. It peaked at #31 on iTunes Top 100 and on the Billboard Hot 100 at #27 in June 2007, being the highest Hannah Montana debut until "Life's What You Make It" and "He Could Be the One" passed it. As of October 2010, the song is Montana's best selling song, with sales of 906,000. Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American actress and pop singer-songwriter. She achieved wide fame for her role as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana |
| THE ROLLING STONES - 2000 LIGHT YEARS FROM HOME (1967) Album: Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967) and More Hot Rocks (1972) November 13th 1988 - my #1 favorite daily song at age 17 during my 1968 year long revival festival. This is the only song to hit #1 on my charts from the Stones. I finally saw the Rolling Stones in concert in 2006 in Regina, SK, Canada. I received Tattoo You for Xmas 1981 at age 10 and then quickly followed up with Big Hits for my 11th birthday on January 15th 1982 and then sometime afterwards got More Hot Rocks and Aftermath. At age 11 these was the only songs I knew of the Stones but to this date would say More Hot Rocks is my favorite Stones album.
"2000 Light Years From Home" is a song from
The Rolling Stones' 1967
psychedelic rock album
Their Satanic Majesties Request. Written by
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it also appeared as the
B-side to the US single "She's
a Rainbow". Jagger reportedly wrote the lyrics in
Brixton prison following his conviction on drug charges
in June 1967. The working title of the instrumental backing
was "Toffee Apple". The prominent string part is played by
Brian Jones on
mellotron. The number was regularly featured
during the Rolling Stones' 1989-90
Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tours; until 1997, when "She's
a Rainbow" was also added to the band's stage repertoire, it
was the only track from Satanic Majesties that the
band had performed in concert. The song is used in the
film
Men in Black 3.

| BOSTON - SURRENDER TO ME (1994) Album: Walk On (1994) March 27th 2007 - my #1 favorite daily song for 52 days and my #2 favorite daily song of 2007. Brad Delp, my favorite male singer of all time, lead vocalist of Boston died on March 9th 2007 which led me to playing all of Boston's albums including this one which I had not listened to before. This became my latest favorite Boston song but did not realize at the time that it was not Brad Delp singing on this particular song but rather it was Fran Cosmo. I was on my last separation from Valerie during the period we dated and I made some new female friends Jayne and Angela that would be important in my life for the next couple months. At this time my band Orange Lucy played their final shows in the Band Wars competition making the finale in April. My son was now 11 months old.
Walk On is the fourth studio
album by
American band
Boston, released in 1994. The album is the first and
only to feature
Fran Cosmo.
After the overall success of Third Stage, the band began planning a follow-up and writings for Walk On began in 1988. Delp left the band in 1989 to join original Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau in forming RTZ. He returned to Boston for the recordings of Walk On, the tour of the same name and for the Corporate America album. Walk On peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA on September 8, 1994 The Walk On tour ran from 1994-1995 in both the US and around the world, with both Delp and Walk On album lead singer Fran Cosmo on vocals. |
| THE COWSILLS - THE RAIN, THE PARK AND OTHER THINGS (1967) March 30th 1989 - my #3 favorite daily song for 1 day at age 18 taking extra classes at Nutana after graduating high school the year before.
"The Rain, the Park & Other Things" is a 1967 hit
single from the
American
pop group
The Cowsills. The score and lyrics were co-written by
Artie Kornfield and Steve Duboff and recorded by The
Cowsills in 1967.
It sold over one million copies, and was awarded
a
gold disc. Bill sang lead vocal on this hit.
Shortly thereafter the band was expanded yet
again, to include siblings Susan and Paul.
With the success of "The Rain...", the band quickly became a popular act in the U.S., and achieved significant airplay in England and other parts of Europe. "The Rain, The Park and Other Things" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. With this hit, the band became popular internationally, and the single reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts. The single cemented the group's popularity and sold some three million copies over the years. It ties with 1969's "Hair" as the group's biggest hit, as both reached No. 2 in the U.S. The song is featured in the 1994 comedy film Dumb and Dumber during the scene where Lloyd Christmas is fantasizing about Mary Swanson, although it was not featured on the soundtrack The Cowsills is an American singing group from Newport, Rhode Island. They specialized in harmonies and the ability to sing and play music at an early age. The band was formed in the spring of 1965 by brothers Bill, Bob, and Barry, then shortly thereafter added John. Originally Bill and Bob played guitar and Barry was on drums, then John learned how to play drums and joined the band, so Barry went to bass. After their initial success, the brothers were later joined by their siblings Susan and Paul and their mother Barbara. Bob's twin brother Richard was the road manager. When the group expanded to its full family membership by 1967, the six siblings ranged in age from 8 to 19. Joined by their mother Barbara, the Cowsills were the inspiration for the 1970 launch of the television show The Partridge Family |
| GRAPEFRUIT - YESTERDAY'S SUNSHINE (1969) Album: Around Grapefruit (1969) This would have been a masterpiece if The Beatles had recorded it as it sure sounds like it could have fit on the Magical Mystery Tour album but instead Grapefruit recorded this amazing powerful pop song from a perfect 60's album. I picked up this album at a garage sale in the mid 80s and it became one of my all time favorites and I have "boosted" this album on my charts 4 different occasions. November 17th 1987 - my #3 favorite daily song for 6 days at age 16 in Grade 12.. November 24th 1988 - my #9 favorite daily song or 1 days at age 17 after finishing highschool. January 10th 2009 - my #4 favorite daily song for 23 days the week I turned 38 living on Ave M South now for almost a year and married to Valerie for 16 months. Grapefruit was a London-based British band of the late 1960s. Their brand of music was a typical late 1960s blend of rock, which they often fused with psychedelic effects such as phasers and vocoders, or classical arrangements. Grapefruit's recording career spanned only two years, from late 1967 to the end of 1969. They released two albums (around in 1968, Deep Water in 1969) and several singles, none of which made a significant impact on the charts. Their best-known track is probably the Terry Melcher-produced "Dear Delilah", which was released in early 1968, and peaked at #21 in the UK Singles Chart, while their single "Deep Water" did crack the German Top 20, peaking at #19. Toward the end of their career, following the new material being written by Alexander (with some inclusions by Wale) Grapefruit shifted from melodic pop to more of a rock-based sound, referred to as "Soft Rock" in a full-page Billboard ad for the album "Deep Water". |
| JOHN KONGOS - TOKOLOSHE MAN (1971) hit #4 in UK I was given a copy of this album sealed by my best friend Zender Millar's uncle August who had about 10 copies of this album sealed in his vast record collection which was very impressive to me at the time in about spring 1984 when I was 13. Zender was also given a copy as well the same day and I think it might be because we perhaps had helped babysit one of his kids that night at August's house. February 11th 1989 - my #3 favorite daily song for 5 days at age 18 the year after graduating high school. September 3rd 2004 - my #6 favorite daily song for 37 days at age 33 while living with Michelle/Brianna. My sister Jennifer had hired me to drive out to Edmonton to play piano for a function and I had picked up a CD version of this album called "Tokoloshe Man" which got me back into this album again.
Tokoloshe Man" was a 1971
glam rock hit single by
John Kongos, released on
Fly Records. It stayed in the
UK singles chart top 10 for five weeks, peaking at #4.
Kongos' previous single release was "He's
Gonna Step On You Again."
"Tokoloshe Man" was later covered by the Happy Mondays. It features on the 1990 Elektra compilation album Rubáiyát: Elektra's 40th Anniversary, and a number of other Happy Mondays releases |
| GTR - TOE THE LINE (1986) Album: GTR (1986) June 3 1992 the song became my #1 favorite song and my 3rd favorite song of 1992. It was inevitable I would pick this album as it featured Steve Howe of Yes and Asia. When first listening to it you can imagine this is a classic song by Yes until we have the "wrong" singer. This song always grabbed me with the high reaching vocal notes which made the song so dramatic against its pleasant melodic verses. Plus an amazing slide solo by Steve Howe which totally reminded me of Yes from Close To The Edge (1972). GTR were a rock band founded in 1985 by former Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe and former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. In comparison to the two leaders' earlier work within progressive rock, GTR's work followed more of an Adult Oriented Rock format. The band was short-lived, lasting for two years and one album. The album was a success hitting #11 and the first single When The Heart Rules The Mind hit #14 and #3 on rock radio. |
| DEBORAH COX - BEAUTIFUL U R (2008) Album: The Promise (2008) Canadian R&B singer finally had a song I really really liked and I played this one a zillion times. Groovy rhythm section and great singalong chorus and the bridge is amazing on this song. October 18th 2008 - my #1 favorite current Canadian Top 40 hit for 20 non-consecutive weeks making it my #2 favorite Canadian top 40 current hit of 2009. November 3rd 2008 - my #1 favorite daily song for 68 days through Xmas and my 38th birthday making it my #2 favorite daily song of 2008 and also my #11 favorite daily song of 2009. The Promise is the fifth album from R&B singer, Deborah Cox, released on November 11, 2008 by Image Entertainment and Deco Recording Group. While her 2007 album Destination Moon was a jazz tribute, this one marks her return to R&B music six years after The Morning After. It debuted at #106 on the U.S. Billboard 200, #14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and #95 on the Canadian Albums Chart. The album was nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2009 Juno Awards. It also features Deborah's tenth #1 dance hit "Beautiful U R". |
| THE BEATLES - I WILL (1968) Album: The Beatles (White Album) (1968) This might possibly be the last Beatles album I ever heard as I recorded myself recording singing along with the album in possibly early 1983 (age 12) with my friend David Magnusson (age 10). I remember taking the album to his house to listen to. We moved to Ruth Street in December 1982 and I do remember having the large White Album poster up on the wall in my bedroom at that house.
I Will" is a song by
The Beatles that was released on
The Beatles. It was written by
Paul McCartney (credited to
Lennon–McCartney) and features him on lead vocal,
guitar, and "vocal
bass".
"I Will" was one of the songs worked on by The Beatles and their associates while in Rishikesh, India. Although the music came together fairly easily, the words were worked on in India, and remained unfinished even as recording began back in London. This quiet song required 67 takes and George Harrison did not play (during The Beatles sessions, The Beatles often recorded in separate studios). The 'vocal bass' comes in during the second verse of the song in the monaural version, but is featured from the beginning in the stereo version. During take 19 of "I Will", McCartney ad-libbed an untitled and uncopyrighted song (referred to as "Can you take me back?" by author Ian MacDonald), a 28-second segment of which ended up on side 4 of the album The Beatles as what MacDonald described as “a sinister introduction to "Revolution 9"”. Also ad-libbed by McCartney was "Los Paranoias", released, together with take 1 of "I Will", in 1996 on Anthology 3 |
| FAITH NO MORE - EPIC (1990) hit #9
Epic" is a song by the American rock band
Faith No More. It was released in 1989 as the second
single from their third album
The Real Thing in US and in 1990 as their second
single from that album in the UK and Europe. The song was a
breakthrough hit. It peaked at number nine on the
Billboard Hot 100 (the band's only Top Ten hit in the
United States), and their first
Number One single on the
Australian charts. It is the band's most popular song
and a staple in their concerts.
"Epic" was ranked number thirty on VH1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs, number sixty-seven on their 100 Greatest One-hit Wonders list, in 2009, it was named the 54th best hard rock song of all time also by VH1, also in 2009 it charted number 46 on the Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time, the largest music poll in the world. The music video for "Epic", which featured surreal images combined with performance footage of the band soaked by an artificial rainstorm on a sound stage, was subject to controversy because of the treatment of a fish, who is out of water and dying on camera. Guitarist Jim Martin was a schoolmate, close friend and fan of the late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. In the video he can be seen wearing a t-shirt with a photo of Cliff with the words "A Tribute to Cliff Burton". In addition, Mike Patton can be seen wearing a Mr. Bungle shirt that reads "There's A Tractor In My Balls Again". "Epic" was the band's most successful single and was generally well-received; according to Rolling Stone, it set a standard that Faith No More did not match with its later albums. Both the Philadelphia Daily News and Los Angeles Times praised the song, citing the song as "radio-ready" and "radical," respectively. However, the New York Times also cited Faith No More as "style-crunching," using "Epic" as their example. |
| THE STAMPEDERS - RAMONA (1974) hit #18 in Canada Album: New Day (1974) hit #23 in Canada The Stampeders are one of Canada's most famous 70's music groups who bordered from country to hard rock the same way that CCR had done in the USA. This song has one of the catchiest simple guitar riffs ever and its a great rock pop song. I saw them live a few times years later as they reunited and now tour across Canada performing at many exhibitions. June 10th 1989 - my #1 favorite daily song for 5 days. The first of 2 #1 songs on my chart by The Stampeders.
Stampeders are a
Canadian
rock
trio, consisting of
Rich Dodson, Ronnie King, and Kim Berly. The
band formed in
Calgary,
Alberta in 1964 as The Rebounds The Rebounds had five
members:
Rich Dodson, Len Roemer, Brendan Lyttle, Kim Berly, and
Race Holiday. They renamed themselves The Stampeders in 1965
and Len Roemer was replaced with Ronnie King and Van Louis.
In 1966 they relocated to
Toronto, Ontario, and became a trio in 1968 when Lyttle,
Louis, and Holiday left. In 1971 they had a
hit with "Sweet
City Woman," which won Best Single at the

| MAX WEBSTER - LET GO THE LINE (1978) Album: A Million Vacations (1978) I had this 45 rpm which I listened to a decade after it was a Canadian radio hit. September 7th 1989 - my #1 favorite daily song. It was my #1 song the day my grandfather Les Walters passed away. I thought the title was sadly ironic. I was 18 and had just started 1st year University that week first time I had moved away from home. A Million Vacations was the fourth album by Canadian rock band Max Webster. The record was released in 1979. The hit songs "A Million Vacations", "Let Go the Line", and "Paradise Skies" remain as Canadian Classic rock radio station staples. The album was certified platinum by the Canadian Recording Industry Association |

Regent Sound Studio in London on 9 February 1967 in three
takes. Regent was used because
EMI's Abbey Road studios were not available that night.
This was the first time The Beatles used a studio other than
Abbey Road for recording a track for an
EMI
album.
The lead vocal was recorded at the same time as the rhythm track, a change from their post-1963 approach of overdubbing the vocal
